Lights, Camera, Action: Sony HDV Camera Release September 24, 2008 Sony to offer two new products for aspiring filmmakers

Achieving high quality home videos will be possible with the launch of two new HDV cameras from Sony later this year. The HDR-FX1000, available in early November, gives consumer videographers access to cinematic features, such as 24P scanning and advanced color settings; while the HVR-Z5U, available this December offers advanced production capabilities and tapeless recording through an optional CompactFlash adapter.
Ideal for prosumers, the HDR-FX1000 boasts film-like movie quality and advanced color settings for a crisper, cinematic look. Geared for more seasoned professionals, the HVR-Z5U includes useful capabilities, such as balanced audio, XLR inputs, timecode and the technical resources to help with integrating non-linear editing systems.
Both HDV camera models use three of Sony's ClearVid 1/3-inch of CMOS sensor chips, designed for high sensitivity, deep resolution, high speed reading, low noise and a wider dynamic range—all of which contribute to better picture quality. Additionally, both use Sony's XtraFine LCD and XtraFine electronic view finder for high-resolution and high contrast images.
